Running for a Cause
Giving back to the community is a priority for Quevera. Quevera has shown support by volunteering at a local food bank, mentoring high-school students, and giving out backpacks with school supplies to local schools. This year we decided to sponsor the 16th Annual AFCEA Central Maryland 5k & Family Fun Run/Walk Race for Excellence to support the Armed Forces Communication and Electronics Association (AFCEA).
The AFCEA Central Maryland Chapter also referred to as AFCEA-CMD is a not-for-profit association that provides “an ethical, interactive forum for sharing knowledge and building relationships across government, military, industry, and academia” (AFCEA-CMD). The Central Maryland Chapter focuses on promoting education related to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). The AFCEA organizes events (like the fun run) to raise funds for these educational efforts. Quevera is proud to be a sponsor of this event.
Since Quevera strongly believes in investing in our future generations, this was a perfect opportunity to give back. Our Q Office Manager, Crissy Rusk, said, “Quevera decided to sponsor the Fun Run because we believe in investing in the future leaders in STEM.” Corporate sponsors, like Quevera, aid the AFCEA in providing over $200,000 to qualifying students and teachers in the form of scholarships, endowments, and grants!

A Quevera employee shared our key to success, “The Quevera culture is simple- invest in people and treat them like family.” Investing in youth is our key to success, as the youth today will be our leaders tomorrow. This sponsorship is an example of how we, Quevera, live up to our values every day.
